Comparison of The Kingdom of Heaven and The Kingdom of The God
By Dr. Fred Wittman
Mt. 13:18-30,36-43,47-50

 THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN
 The rule of Heaven in the kingdoms on Earth

Described only in Matthew, no where else in the New
Testament! Differences observed between kingdoms
are important!

1. Earthly realm: ultimate Messianic rule of Christ on
       Earth.
2. Introduced by John the Baptizer (Mt. 3:1,2).
3. Sphere or realm of profession (real or false);
       professors - both true and false.
4. Entered by conversion (Mt. 18:3) - a new leaf.
5. Reformation of the old creature.
6. Christendom.
7. Visible now.
8. Tares and bad fish (Mt. 13:24-30; 38-42; 47-50).
9. All kinds of birds in the branches (Mt. 13:32).
10. Man’s concept of The God’s Will.

11. Make converts to a religion, ‘only believe.’
12. Lack the oil (anointing) of The Holy Spirit (Mt. 25:1-13).
13. Do not wear a wedding garment (Mt. 22:11-13).
14. Devotion to a church or denomination.
15. Loyal to a church and denominational doctrine.

16. Religion containing a Christ by unrighteous
17. In Mystery: a mixed multitude, contains false and true
        believers, wheat & tares, good & bad fish (Mt. 13:
        11,3-52; 25:1-13).
18. Things old and new (Mt. 13:52).
19. Temporal and mediatorial - only from John til the
       end of the Millennium. (1 Cor. 15:24-28). Those
       still living will inhabit the new Earth (Is. 65:17;
       66:22-24; 2 Pet. 3:13; Rev. 21:1).
20. May teach to break the commandments of the law
       and remain in the kingdom of Heaven (Mt. 5:19).
21. The Self-righteous may enter (Mt. 5:20).

22. Rule of the people or the crowd (Rev. 3:14-22).

23. The violent take it by force (Mt. 11:12).
24. Some Not forgiving (Mt. 18:23-35; 6:15; 18:34,35;
        Mk. 11:26).
25. Cling to an old rugged cross but are not crucified to
        sin, self, and the world.
26. Wear a cross as an emblem but do not demonstrate a
       cross experience in life.
27. Spend eternity in outer darkness and eternal torment
        (Mt. 8:11,12; 13:42; Rev. 20:14,15).
28. (Unrighteous) unjust ones (1 Cor. 6:9,10; Gal. 5:19-
       21; Eph. 5:5-13) and apostates within (1 Tim. 4:1,2;
        2 Thes. 2:2b,3; Rev. 21:8 ).

THE KINGDOM OF THE GOD
The rule of The God in the realm of obedience

Described: only 4 vs. in Mt. (6:33; 12: 28; 21:31,43) and
in all N.T. Books except 2 Cor., Phil.,1 Tim., Titus,
1 and 2 Peter, 1,2, and 3 John, and Jude.

 Heavenly and Spiritual realm. God's Heavenly rule
       throughout the ages.
 Introduced by The Lord Jesus Christ (Mt. 6:33).
 Sphere or realm of possession (only real, no false);
       only possessors of Eternal Life.
 Entered by regeneration (Jn. 3:3,5) - new life.
 A new creature (2 Cor. 5:17).                    /1:22; 5:23,27-29).
 Christianity: The True Church (1 Cor. 12:12-28; Eph.^
 Invisible (Lk. 17:20,21).
 No tares nor bad fish (Mk. 4:2-34; Lk. 8:4-18).
 Birds under the shadow (Mk. 4:30-32).
 Truly know and do the Will of The God (1 Jn. 2:17;
       Heb. 10:36).
 Obey the Commission: make disciples (Mt. 28:19,20).
 Have the oil (anointing) of The Spirit (Mt. 25:4).
 Are wearing a wedding garment (Mt. 22:2-13 cf. Rev. 19:8).
 Devotion to Christ.
 Loyal to The Church, The Bride of Christ (Rev. 21:2,9)
       and doctrine taught in God's Word.
 Righteousness of Christ imputed (2 Cor. 5:18-21).
 Mystical union with Christ: a pure body containing
       only the regenerated believers (Lk. 17:20,21; 1
       Cor. 15:50; Eph. 5:29,30; 1:4; 5:27; Col. 1:22).
 All things new (Mt. 13:52 cf. 2 Cor. 5:17).
 Eternal - never ends (Dan. 4:3,27; 2 Pet. 1:11; Ps.
       145:12,13). - Flesh and blood cannot inherit it (1
       Cor. 15:51; Gal. 5:19-21; Eph. 5:5).

 His (Christ's) commandments are to be kept (1 Jn.
       2:3; 5:2,3; Jn. 15:9,10).
 Only ones made righteous in Christ enter (Rom. 3:
       22,23; 10:10; 2 Cor. 5:21).
 Rule of The Person of Christ. Lord = absolute, unre-
       stricted authority, full control (Lk. 6:47; Acts 10:36).
 Cannot be entered by force though attempted (Lk. 16:16).
 All have a forgiving spirit (Mt. 6:14 Mk.11:25,26;
       Lk. 6:37; Eph. 4:32).
 Cling to The Christ of the cross with Whom they are
       crucified (Gal. 2:20; 5:24 APT; 6:14).
 Their lives reflect a cross experience (Gal. 2:20;
        5:24 APT; 6:14).
 Spend eternity in Heaven with The Lord Jesus Christ
       (1 Thes. 4:16,17).
 Only the regenerated shall inherit the Kingdom of
       God (1 Cor. 6:9,10; Gal. 5:19-21; Eph.5:6-13;
       Ps. 37:27,29; Mt. 19:27-29; Rev. 21:7).

There are similarities between these two Kingdoms. But the differences noted above make it very clear that there are distinct differences. It behooves each one of us to examine ourselves whether we truly be in the faith (2 Cor. 13:5) lest we become disapproved. Many labor under the misunderstanding that working for the furtherance of the kingdom is in reality furthering the kingdom of profession and thus the kingdom of Heaven and not the Kingdom of The One True God.                 12/26/02
